My services A to Z

My end-of-life doula services are available at an hourly rate of $75. I also offer personalized packages - especially around legacy projects and vigils. All of my relationships start with a free 30-minute discovery call to align your goals and my services and ensure we are a good pairing.

  • Body Care: Cleansing and blessing body after death
  • Care for Friends and Loved Ones: Helping share the news of your death and providing support and connection
  • Caregiver Support: Practical assistance in navigating all that is required in death and dying
  • Emotional Support: Comforting presence - listening without judgement
  • End of Life Planning: Choosing care for body, funeral/celebration of life, writing obituary
  • Environmental Support: Helping create a safe and loving space to receive the care you need
  • Forgiveness and Regrets: Support in processing emotions and expressing feelings to loved ones
  • Grief Support: Processing Your emotions about death

I do not provide medical care, administer medications, perform clinical tasks, or transfer people e.g., from chair to bed. 
 

My services by phase

My end-of-life doula services are available at an hourly rate of $75. I also offer personalized packages - especially around legacy projects and vigils. All of my relationships start with a free 30-minute discovery call to verify alignment of your goals to my services and ensure we are a good match.

I serve the Twin Cities Metro area in person and I offer virtual sessions via Zoom wherever you are.

Planning & Death Education

Timing: Any time — the sooner the better for more agency and options

Pricing: Typically, an hourly rate for an agreed upon number of hours or sessions.

  • Facilitate decision-making and guide to resources and forms e.g., advance directives and living wills, POLSTs [Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment], choosing a hospice service.
  • Planning rituals, after death body care arrangements, funeral, celebration of life. 
  • Death education - guiding to resources, answering questions, demystifying the dying process, presentations and/or workshops.

Pre-Vigil

Timing: The time before the dying person has entered the final days of life

Pricing: Typically, an hourly rate for an agreed upon number of hours or sessions.

  • Guidance and support of the dying person and family through the dying process; respite care, communicating comfort needs with care team.
  • Exploration of life meaning through structured life review.
  • Assistance with a remembrance or legacy project based on Client ideas of what is important from their life experience and the values they hold, which represent how the Client wishes loved ones will keep him or her in their hearts and memories.
  • Planning for how the Client wishes the last days of life to look, sound, and feel.
  • Creation of guided imagery sessions and rituals.

The Vigil

Timing: When the dying person is actively dying, lasts hours to +/-10 days 

Pricing: Typically, a package, not to exceed the hourly rate, for an agreed upon number of hours or shifts, including on-call hours.

  • Active support and presence for the Client during the last days of life.
  • Holding space for the wishes the Client expressed in the vigil plan, which was worked out with the Doula during the pre-vigil period. 
  • This may involve conducting guided imagery sessions with the Client, playing the music and/or sounds requested, light touch and hand holding, as well as reading from chosen books or spiritual texts, and facilitating rituals at appropriate moments.
  • Advocacy with clinicians, extended family, and paid caregivers regarding Client wishes about care, atmosphere, and involvement at the bedside.
  • Assistance with simple physical care such as mouth care, repositioning, changing bed sheets, or applying a cool compress.
  • Education about the signs and symptoms of the active dying process and imminent death. 

Post-Vigil

Timing: The time after the death, may last days or months

Pricing: Typically, an hourly rate for an agreed upon number of hours or sessions, beginning in the first few weeks after the death.

  • Assistance with phone calls to friends, family, or the funeral home immediately after the death.
  • Reprocessing the emotions and experiences of the dying process with the Client family or friends.
  • Education about the grieving process, early grief support, and offering appropriate referrals when necessary.
